On June 5th, the Central Wisconsin Open Musky Tournament was held. This year 17 boats fished 4 different Wisconsin River flowages. Their efforts resulted in 5 total muskies, including the biggest ever caught in our tournament, a 49.75″!
This event was also a success in raising over $500 for our Fisheries and Youth funds!
The final standings are:
- Kirk Blumm/Logan Schaefer, 82″ (42.25 +39.75) Lake Wausau
- Branden Ahrens/Ryker Ahrens, 49.75″ Point Flowage
- Paul Tessmer/Ernie Tessmer 39″ Lake Wausau
- Jim Dana/Bob Dana 30.75″ Point Flowage
Big Musky: Branden Ahrens, 49.75″ Point Flowage
Big Pike: Mike Orlikowski, 30.5″ Mosinee
Interesting side note: all 4 teams that caught muskies were father/son teams! Here’s to family fishing!
Stats:
-68hrs/musky overall
-40hrs/musky Lake Wausau
-50hrs/musky Point Flowage
-80hrs/no muskies on Mosinee Flowage, 40hrs/no muskies on Lake DuBay
-40.3″ avrg length
-23.5% boat success
-14.7% gross/11.8% adjusted angler success
So it was slower compared to 2019 (16 boats, 14 muskies), this is still fair success given bright, post frontal conditions, and the biggest ever caught in the tournament hit the net.
